**NOTE: All small game, unprotected wildlife, and non-game hunters will abide by rules, seasons, bag limits, and authorized weapons listed in Fort Cavazos Annual Hunting, Fishing, and Natural Resource Use Guide, Fort Cavazos Circular 210-22, and Fort Cavazos Regulation 210-25; as well as all State and Federal hunting laws and regulations.
**NOTE: Under no circumstances may a hunter harvest a deer while checked into iSportsman under this option. No hunting of frogs, reptiles, turtles, mountain lions, foxes or bobcats.
**NOTE: Duck, turkey, and archery hunters must wear orange while moving (at a minimum, both to and from hunt site) but may remove orange while stationary in the hunt site or blind. Hunter orange must be worn while retrieving game.
NO HUNTING at Cantonment A, Cantonment B, Birdbath Lake, East Lake, Pershing Lake, Cantonment E Pond in Kouma Village, Airfield Lake, Landfill Lake, Clear Creek Lake, or any other named or unnamed bodies of water in the cantonment areas.
Hunters must use non-toxic shot loads for all waterfowl hunting on Fort Cavazos.
Hunters taking or hunting migratory game birds must have all appropriate endorsements on their Texas State Hunting License. Fort Cavazos regulations govern waterfowl hunting on streams and impoundments within Fort Cavazos and the portion of the Leon River that borders the military installation. Fort Cavazos regulations do not regulate waterfowl hunting on Belton Lake or that portion of Cowhouse Creek east of East Range Road (Curry) Crossing, provided access to these locations is by boat and hunters do not exit the boat. iSportsman controls access to hunting on the Belton Lake shoreline.
Hunting migratory game birds with the aid of bait (minerals, vegetative material, or any other food substance placed to lure/entice) is prohibited. It is the hunter's responsibility to know if an area contains bait.
Persons wishing to train their dogs by releasing purchased birds such as quail must first receive approval from DPW NCRMB. A health certificate for the birds is required and you may not shoot the birds out of season. You must have all applicable state licenses, endorsements, and a Fort Cavazos hunting permit.
Hunting dogs are only authorized for game birds, rabbits, and raccoons.
Pigs can be hunted year-round. From October through January they may be specifically hunted by checking in through the Pig Hunting activity option. During the remainder of the year, pigs may be harvested utilizing the Small Game/Non-game Hunting activity option.
Pigs may be legally harvested when checked-in through ANY of the Hunting options. For example, a hunter may harvest pigs while hunting deer when checked in with the Deer Hunting option. Those hunting turkeys with the Turkey Hunting option may also harvest pigs. However, hunters are limited to the authorized means and methods for the option they are checked in under as outlined in FH Cir 210-22, FH Reg 210-25, and the Annual Hunting, Fishing, and Natural Resource Use Guide.
Hunting and trappers of fur-bearing animals must possess a valid Texas Trapper's License and a Fort Cavazos Hunting Permit if they are not selling the fur. A Texas Parks and Wildlife Department non-game permit is required if the recreator intends to sell the fur. You can use ONLY live traps on Fort Cavazos. You cannot use foot holding (steel leghold or Conibear), deadfall, snare, pit-fall, or net traps. Each trap must be marked in an indelible medium (weather-proof) with the trapper's name, address, and Fort Cavazos iSportsman permit number, and be checked a minimum of once every 36 hours.
Unprotected Wildlife Season No closed season. Bag Limit No limit. Possession No limit. Limit Means and Shotgun not larger than 10- gauge with BB-size shot or smaller; smooth bore (shot) Methods muzzleloaders with BB-size shot or smaller; legal archery equipment.
You may use electronic calling devices for hunting non-game animals (e.g. coyotes).

Hunters are allowed to recreate with companions. During the check-in process, a hunter may add Participants or a Guest (Guest Observer). Hunters are prohibited from adding more than one (1) Guest (Guest Observer).
A Participant can fully participate in the activity for which they are checked in for and must possess a valid hunting permit.
A Guest (Guest Observer) may not participate in the activity and must possess a valid Fort Cavazos permit. Guest must be with the recreator at all times.
NOTE: All Guest (Guest Observers) nine years old and older must have an iSportsman account and a valid Fort Cavazos permit.
Individual hunters may not have multiple weapons in their possession/vehicle while hunting to include interchangeable barrels. No firearms are authorized at all while archery hunting. Pistols are not authorized on Fort Cavazos.
