You will need the appropriate permit depending on the activity you plan to participate in. We offer a Hunting Permit, Fishing Permit and a General Recreation permit. These are acquired in your iSportsman account that you create.
ALL Fort Cavazos permits are sold online and purchased through your account on iSportsman. For hunting and fishing activities you will also be required to have your state issued license that can be bought at most sporting goods stores.
NOTE: All sales are final and there are no refunds
If there are no permits shown for you to purchase, make sure you have completed the UXO Safety Briefing under My Safety Briefs. Once you have watched the video and answered the question(s) correctly you will be given validation to view and purchase permits. If after you complete the UXO Safety Briefing and there still aren’t permits showing, you will need to contact Fort Cavazos iSportsman staff to further investigate the issue.
Youth ages 9 to 16 years of age who plan to hunt, must register with iSportsman and purchase the appropriate Youth Hunting Permit. Youth under the age of 9 are not authorized to hunt on Fort Cavazos.
Youth ages 9 to 16 years of age who plan to fish, must register with iSportsman and obtain the appropriate FREE Youth Fishing Permit. Children under the age of 9 do not need a permit. Youth that are licensed to drive must have a Vehicle Range Pass as well.
Youth ages 9 to 16 years of age who plan to participate in recreational activities other than hunting and fishing, must register with iSportsman and obtain the appropriate FREE Youth General Recreation Permit. Youth under 9 do not need a General Recreation Permit.
Children 15 years old and under are required to be accompanied by an adult at all times and may be checked in and out with the parents iSportsman account for general recreation. Youth that are licensed to drive must have a Vehicle Range Pass as well.
You CANNOT check-out partcipants that you check-in!! Each user must login into their individual account to check-out.
Note: In general, these are the dates that different activity options will be available. Area availability is subject to the Range Operations schedule for military training. Wildlife management goals and restrictions as well as State and Federal law may affect the specific availability.

Yes. Please view the Vehicle Range Pass PDF or follow these instructions. Log into your account and click on "My Account" > "Account Details". Click "Manage Account" and scroll down to Vehicles. Click "Add New" and add your additional vehicle then save. Next, select which vehicle you’d prefer to be your default from your vehicle list. To do this you will click on the Make of the vehicle you just added and the window will open with the vehicle information. At the bottom of the window will be a button to select “Is Default.” Select that box and click save. Now you can go back to “My Account” >“Home” scroll to the bottom to see “My Permits.” Click on “Print Permit” and the newly added vehicle that you set as default will show on the Vehicle Pass. Lastly, print the permit and/or vehicle pass.
Note: For users with multiple vehicles, the vehicle selected as "default" will print with your permit. To print a vehicle range pass for a different vehicle you must select the desired vehicle as your new default and then reprint your permit and vehicle range pass.
Yes, firearms need to be registered before hunting on the installation. Please visit the Guides & Regs information tab for instructions on registering a firearm and where to find Fort Cavazos Firearms Registration (form 190-19).
Yes. To participate in any hunting activity, a hunter must have proof of successful completion of a state-certified hunter safety course. All hunters must carry on their person proof of their hunter safety, while in the field.
ALL recreators must wear a minimum of 400 square inches of blaze orange (hunter orange) on the head and upper torso from 28 September 2024 through 31 January 2025.
This includes anglers who are fishing at "No Check in/Check out" ponds.
Hunters may wear orange that is broken up with a camo pattern, but a majority of the garment must be blaze orange in color.
Deer, Spring Turkey, and Pig hunters may make a reservation for an activity in a particular area starting at 1200 (noon) to 2059 the day prior. On the day the area is reserved, hunters have from 0400 until 1159 hours to check-in to their reservation. If a hunter has not checked in by 1159 hours the reservation will expire, allowing the slot to become available to other permittees. Once checked in the hunter must remain checked in until they are done recreating and then must check out to avoid penalties.
Yes. October through January pigs can be harvested under the Pig Hunting Activity Option. During the remainder or the year, pigs can be harvested under the Small Game/Non-game Hunting Activity Option.
No. A hunting or fishing permit allows you to have general recreation privileges.
These ponds allow you to fish year round without having to check-in or check-out. You are still required to have a Fort Cavazos Fishing Permit, State Fishing license issued by TPWD, and the vehicle range pass that prints with your permit. Access to these fishing locations must be by the most direct route. A list of these ponds and locations can be found in the Fort Cavazos Annual Hunting, Fishing, and Natural Resource Use Guide.
NOTE: Fishing at these locations between 28 SEPTEMBER 2024 and 31 JANUARY 2025 requires the angler to wear a minimum of 400 square inches of safety orange on the head and torso.
